Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst to join Salt Lake County’s Information Technology Division on a 12-month temporary contract. Reporting directly to the Full-Time TORUS Business Analyst, you will play a key role in eliciting, analyzing, and validating business needs to help the organization make sound technology decisions. This is a hybrid role requiring two days onsite (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) at the County offices in Salt Lake City.
Key Responsibilities

Requirement Elicitation: Lead interviews, workshops, and surveys to gather user requirements and document project scope.

Agile Coordination: Manage and coordinate Agile processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

Documentation: Create technical User Stories, process models, diagrams, and charts to provide clear direction to the development team.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project sponsors and Business Technology Partners to determine project vision and identify optimizing technologies.

Analysis & Verification: Analyze technical requirements for completeness, consistency, and feasibility.

Quality Assurance: Participate in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions are optimized.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of related professional experience.

Government Experience (Preferred): Previous experience as a Business Analyst within a County or State government environment is highly preferred.

Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to create technical user stories and comprehensive requirements documentation.

Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning and backlog grooming.
